Nathaniel H. Jablonski - Eagle Scout Project
The General Philip Kearny Memorial Town Tour
The General Philip Kearny Memorial Town Tour (GPKMTT) is an on-going initiative to help residents and others learn about Major General Philip Kearny and his town’s culturally diverse history in an interactive format. The 5.1-mile urban hike features 12 historical monuments in the Town of Kearny, New Jersey. Marking the trail are numbered waypoints of General Kearny at each of the 12 designated stops. Participants can earn a commemorative patch and medal of General Kearny by answering questions about the 12 historical sites in the tour booklet.
To register and order the free tour booklet, please email GeneralKearny@gmail.com. Additionally, an audio recording of the self-guided historical walking tour can be downloaded through the app available through www.VisitHudson.org. Kearny Mayor Alberto Santos and Nathaniel Jablonski recorded the introduction and information about the 12 featured monuments in the tour booklet, memorializing the historical tour of Kearny in a modern format.
The GPKMTT was developed as the Eagle Project of Nathaniel Jablonski of Troop/Unit 305 at St. Stephen’s Church in Kearny to share the historical contributions of Kearny’s residents, past, present, and future, in an engaging way. The inaugural hike took place on September 7, 2019. For further information, visit GPKMTT social media:
